Description
J@M vzw offers educational and leisure programmes for children and young people from 6 to15 years old. A venue and support are provided with 5 days a week during the academic year in 8 locations around the City of Mechelen, in Antwerp province. Homework help, recreational activities, projects, excursions, exam supervision, are all supported by youth workers and volunteers of the neighborhoods of the city. J@M vzw is a non-profit organization working with the local government and partners in Mechelen, Antwerp Province. The source of funding is unavailable.

We conducted workshops with the support of J@M vzw in Mechelen and saw the work with the children in providing homework help, games and support for children from non-Belgian origins.
Motivation for the submission
The social workers at J@M vzw work to provide opportunities for young people across Mechelen to access homework, develop their Dutch language and access recreational activities within the communities of the city of Mechelen. They provide a bridge between home and school and the youth workers and volunteers are available to help the integration process providing sport, community outreach, artistic activities and dedicated homework support in the local language.
